Irish Paddy Hats and Paddy Caps

The Irish Cap or as it is commonly called online the Paddy Hat or Paddy Cap is an essential piece of clothing for anyone attending one of the many Irish Festivals around the world during the summer.

One of the biggest which will kick off 2 weeks from today is the Milwaukee Irish Fest - http://irishfest.com . This festival started in the early 1980's, when the local Irish community gathered to talk about ideas to promote it's Irish heritage. The idea of a 3 day festival was born out of these meetings and now it has grown to be the largest Irish Festival in North America.

The Paddy Hat can be traced back to the 14th century. When Irish immigrants

Irish Sweaters on Celebrities

Hello,

Today's blog is a collection of pictures I found of famous people wearing Aran Sweaters or as they are sometimes called irish sweaters, fisherman sweater or boyfriend sweater. Although knitted and worn for centuries in the west of Ireland it was only in the 1950 and 1960's that the Irish sweater became popular due to various fashion spreads in yachting magazines as well as some famous faces seen wearing them.

O'Sullivan's World Record Attempt

The Gathering 2013 is a Irish Government initiative in which they ask local communities to organise local events and festivals to celebrate their Irish Heritage, and genealogy. It will run throughout the year and the message is plain and simple, calling all people connected to Ireland to come back home. Many special events have been organised but the Clan Gathering in Sneem tried for something a little more.

The Guinness Book or World Record.
6 years ago in 2007 the Gallagher’s hosted the biggest clan gathering on record with 1488 people with the surname Gallagher descending on Donegal. In 2013 another clan, the O’Sullivans are trying to break their achievement with their record own by bringing together as many O’Sullivans as possible into the village of Sneem in County Kerry, located in the South West of Ireland.

A common picture in any irish home, whether it be in the front of a warm fireplace, hanging on the back of a sofa, on the bottom of a bed or just as a floor rug, these rugs create a sense of warmth and Irishness to any home. Many people love sheepskin rug yet after purchase they don't think about what is involved in caring for sheepskin rug and increasing it's longevity.
